Legal Ethics - Notes

A lawyer must act as a MEDIATOR and NOT as an instigator.

The legal practice is not a business. The relationship between the lawyer and client is of the highest degree of legal/ethical relationship of trust.

Conduct is considered immoral or deceitful when the act is: willful, shameless, flagrant, of moral indifference to the good and respectable members of society.

Word bank:

ENJOIN - direct, require, command, admonish; there is a degree of urgency; to cease a course of conduct

INSTIGATE - incite, stimulate, or induce into action; goad into an unlawful or bad action, such as a crime.

RETAIN - employ

DISPARAGE - belittle, besmear, defame

LIEN - knot or binding

PROBITY - candidness, goodness, good faith, integrity
