How to Become a Lawyer

In this day and age, with just a few clicks you can find the answer/s to almost all the questions in your mind. Research has become internet dependent even though holding a book and flipping real pages still remains incomparable. But can you really solve or answer everything through what your search engine retrieves for you?

This entry is not an enumerated outline of how to become a lawyer. No, it is not misleading. The focus remains on that topic. :)

There is really no sure fire way to ace it and become a lawyer after meticulously following a specific direction. Yes, there are tips from great and well-known lawyers. Yes, there are advice from those who went through the hurdles of law school and the bar exam. BUT, remember this, no two people are exactly alike. Nope. What worked for someone may not work for you.

It's okay to search for tips, advice, and words of wisdom on how to become a lawyer. BUT, as the saying goes, "chew the meat and spit out the bones". One professor quoted that in a lecture, to remind students that in learning you don't absorb everything; you have to know what to keep and what to toss away.

Becoming a lawyer is not a work in the park (although there may be a few who would say it is). It consists of not only the years spent in pre-law, law school, review for the bar exam and taking as well as passing the bar. It goes beyond those, way beyond those.

Being in the legal profession, or in any profession for that matter, is not a ticket to look down on someone or huff and puff while flaunting your status or title. Rather, it calls for humility in times of defeat, calmness in times of turmoil, integrity in times when you have to choose between right and wrong, strength to stick to your convictions when the world says otherwise.

A good advice? Read. Read. Read.

The best advice? Pray. "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."-Proverbs 16:3
