Martin Luther once said, “On a typical day I
am charged with the pastorate of three congregations. I teach regularly at the
seminary. I have students living in my house. I am writing three books.
Countless people write to me. When I start each day, therefore, I make it a
point to spend an hour in prayer with God. But if I have a particularly busy
day, and am more rushed than usual, I make it a point to spend two hours with
God before I start the day.”
Here is a prayer for lawyers, the one who wrote this is unknown:
God today I will face many challenges, for I am a Lawyer.
I pray wisdom to guide me in Your ways, understanding to
hear my clients and seek the truth, determination to give my best for them and honor
if we should face defeat. I ask for focus and discernment that I may be astute
and sharp before judges, confidence and peace of mind when adversity comes my
way, strength to fight when I must, and patience to be still when hindrances
are beyond my control. Lord grant me humility to accept my faults, grace to
accept the faults of others, and determination to carry on for I am a Lawyer.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
